Overview
Loop’s custom spend settings let you tailor each card’s permissions to match your company’s policies.
For example, you can block certain merchant categories (like travel or entertainment) or restrict spending in specific currencies.
Once configured, these settings apply instantly to the selected card and can be updated anytime.
How to adjust card spend settings
Go to the View Cards page
Log in to your Loop Dashboard.
Select View Cards from the main menu.
Click the card you want to configure.
Open Spend Settings
Under the Spending Limits section, click Spend Settings.
Block specific merchant categories
Uncheck any Merchant Categories you do not want this card to authorize.
For example, you might disable “Travel” or “Subscriptions” for certain employee cards.
Restrict currency usage
Deselect the currencies you don’t want to authorize for spending on this card.
This is useful if a card should only be used for CAD or USD transactions.
Save your changes
Click Update to apply your new settings.
The changes will take effect immediately.
Review card spend overview
You can view the configured spending limits, amount used, and next reset date under Spending Limits.
Notes
Only Admins, Bookkeepers and Owners can edit card spend settings.
Changes take effect instantly and apply only to the selected card.
You can re-enable blocked categories or currencies anytime by returning to Spend Settings.
Spend settings work alongside overall card limits for even finer control.
FAQs
Can I apply the same settings to multiple cards?
Currently, settings are applied per card. You’ll need to repeat the process for each card you’d like to configure.
Can I edit spend settings for a card I don’t own?
Only account Admins, Owners and Bookkeepers can modify card configurations.
Do changes apply right away?
Yes — once you click Update, the new settings are active immediately.
